  1. Prepare of jambalaya.
  2. Prepare of mild sausage, cut into 1 " chunks.
  3. Prepare of raw large shrimp, shelled, deveined.
  4. It's of olive oil.
  5. You need of medium onion, chopped.
  6. It's of celery stalk, thinly sliced.
  7. You need of crushed cloves of garlic.
  8. It's of medium red bell pepper, seeded and chopped.
  9. You need of green onions, sliced. Not the dark green part though.
  10. It's of thawed frozen corn.
  11. It's of thawed frozen peas.
  12. You need of turmeric.
  13. Prepare of salt.
  14. It's of sriracha sauce.
  15. You need of ground black pepper.
  16. Prepare of heated chicken broth, may need more to ensure tender rice.
  17. It's of uncooked basmati rice, rinsed until water runs clear.

Shrimp and sausage jambalaya instructions

  1. In a large saute pan,on medium heat, add oil. Once oil is hot add sausage and cook until it is almost cooked through. Will take several minutes..
  2. Add in onion cooking another two minutes..
  3. Add celery, garlic and bell pepper, cook an additional two minutes..
  4. Add peas and corn and rice, cook an additional two minutes..
  5. Add in spices, sriracha,stir then add hot broth. Adding hot broth keeps the cooking temperature stable..
  6. Cover and cook 15 minutes. Now add shrimp, cover and cook until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. About 5 more minutes. Check after 5 and see if rice is cooked. If not, add more hot broth and cover a few more minutes..
  7. Toss in green onion, and serve!.
  8. NOTE******Using a basmati rice makes for a more flavorful dish and it absorbs liquids beautifully..
